Life can pull children, youth and families in many different directions; however, no matter where we are on our journey, God is there with us. At Danville Congregational Church, we want our children to know that, “Nothing, absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of God.” (Romans 8:38-39)
DCC is an inclusive, welcoming community where we encourage families of all varieties, configurations, and backgrounds to get involved. Every first Sunday of the month, our entire community comes together for All Church Family Worship. Children and youth are welcomed and encouraged to remain in worship with their families on these Sundays, and often have leadership roles within the service. In addition to worship, your child will benefit from an engaging program that is rooted in the stories of scripture and Christian tradition. DCC offers a safe and nurturing environment. Children and youth are encouraged to ask questions and discern their own spiritual journeys.
Godly Play meets during Sunday morning worship on the second through fifth Sundays of the month. For infants and children through age three we offer nursery care with a professional childcare provider. The nursery is available fifteen minutes before the service each week. This area is equipped with a speaker system so parents can remain in the nursery, if they wish, so they can participate in the worship service.
Every summer we offer a Vacation Bible Camp for children ages 3 to grade 5 for a week in June. Children from DCC and the surrounding community are invited to join this week of fun and Christian formation through storytelling, arts and crafts, vibrant worship, and games.
Youth in grades 6 through 8 are invited to join our “So What?” class on Sunday mornings during worship. This youth class is led by trained volunteers and utilizes a video-based curriculum called Re:form.
On Sunday evenings (except during the summer), youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to join our associate pastor and youth advisors for Youth Group. At DCC, we strive to build community, encourage Christian spiritual exploration, and deepen relationships among our youth.
DCC’s children, youth, and families are invited to participate in many special events and service projects throughout the year, including: All Church Family Picnic, Church Camp at Camp Caz, Intergenerational Christmas Pageant, Christmas for Others, Winter Nights Shelter, 5th Sundays of Service, marching in the San Francisco Pride Parade, and supporting Heifer International.
If you are visiting for the first time, please be sure to let a greeter know that you are new and that you’d like to be introduced to Rev. Eric Sherlock, our Associate Pastor who works with our children, youth, and families.
